Tim Shearman with over 30 years in the Hospitality and Hotel Industry tells us why he set up Four Corners Hospitality Group – and if you want to catch him when he’s not working you might need to get into a pool or be on the tennis court!
• What inspired you to start FCHG?
Lunacy or Madness… actually both! In all seriousness starting a hospitality business during a Pandemic some people may think we are mad however, myself and Kym saw it as a great opportunity to help owners reposition or repurpose their hotel assets. I knew that working with Kym between us we had a great network of talented people we could work with to support our vision. I have always worked on the ownership side of the within hospitality and hotels and worked in dynamic organisations where I have been fortunate to have a great track record of consistent success – so I knew I could take the next step and set up FCHG.
• What’s important to you as you build your business
For me its all about respect, integrity and having fun and giving back. If we all share in these values I know Four Corners Hospitality will be a success. We are only as good as the team we work with so we must share these values and enjoy what we are doing. I have also always wanted to help others and support businesses, I was a school governor, a Samaritain so its in my DNA to give back. FCHG is already a charity partner with Make A Wish – UK and Macmillan – its really important to us that we work hard but also support others.
As the world is beginning to open up again where do you see the opportunities?
There are a lot of opportunities out there but Acquisitions will be a key area supporting owners with improving profit and new ways of doing business – we want to challenge the norms. What makes us different is we can tailor make tools that we have built ourselves. There are opportunities in what the team can bring and our flexibility and agility to be able to focus on what the owners are looking for. I also think that with the resort market there is huge demand from an ownership and customer experience, we can increase the profitability margins without reducing the guest experience.
• What are you most excited about in 2021?
Seeing people travel again and human interaction – zoom has been very successful but we are in hospitality we love being around people. I can’t wait to be at IHIF later on this year and going forward meeting more people around the world. I am excited about our partnerships with charities and our schedule of events with the team to raise money, awareness but also having fun together its so important.
• A little about you - what does a Tim day look like and what do you do to relax?
When I am not working I do like to walk my dog, play a bit of tennis, watch a show. No surprise I love entertaining and cooking and enjoying time with friends and family. I am very excited for my first planned holiday later in the year in Menorca. Lets hope the traffic light system in place will work and we all get to travel soon
